Ebay Non-Performer hold is a special Paypal fund hold imposed on payments made in Ebay categories in which there’s a high occurrence of dispute between a buyer and a seller or a high rate of scamming.
For example if you are selling items like Gift cards (with a high rate of Buyer-Seller dispute), the Ebay non-performer hold will always be placed on any payment you receive.
Ebay Non Performer Hold may also be imposed if the performance of a seller has fallen below the normal eBay performance standard.
Ebay Non-Performer Hold may also be imposed on a particular payment if the buyer has a very poor reputation on Ebay i.e. if the buyer is noted for cancelling orders and asking for refund.
It should be note that there are two types of Payments holds imposed by Ebay which include;
- The Normal 21 days Paypal Payment Hold and…
- The Ebay Non-Performer Hold
The Ebay non performer hold differs from the normal 21 days payment hold in that with the Ebay Non performer hold, funds will only be released after a product has been shipped and tracking number uploaded. OR fund will only be released after you have provided indisputable evidence to prove that a particular service was rendered.
Unlike the Ebay Non Performer hold, with the normal 21 days payment hold, funds can be released within 21 days even if the seller doesn’t upload any tracking number on Ebay or Paypal. Funds may sometimes be released earlier than the 21 days if the performance of a seller is Above Standard or Top Rated (if the seller marks the item as shipped).
Like i mentioned earlier, a tracking number must be uploaded for payment to be released in the case of Ebay non-Performer hold. In very rare cases, a tracking number is not needed.
I also mentioned earlier that the Ebay non-performer hold is a special payment hold imposed on payments in Categories where there’s a high seller – customer dispute or high rate of scamming.
Payments holds were put in place by Ebay to protect buyers from scamming or to ensure that Ebay sellers can only withdraw funds after they have shipped a particular product or successfully rendered a service.
What to do if a Paypal payment is on Ebay Non-Performer Hold.
If an Ebay non-performer hold has been placed on a payment, you just need to ship the product and upload a tracking number.
Your fund will be released as soon as the product is delivered.
Please make sure that you ship the product to a confirmed Paypal Address to benefit from the Paypal Seller protection.
Like i mentioned earlier, Paypal also imposed the Ebay non-performer hold on payments issued by Ebay users with a very poor reputation (customers who have been noted for filing disputes or cancelling orders). So whenever an Ebay non-performer hold has been placed on a particular payment, you (the ebay seller) needs to ship the product to the buyer and upload a tracking number in order to be safe from scam.
Once you ship the item to the buyer and upload a tracking number, your money will be released.
In some cases, if you mark the purchase item as shipped, the status of the payment hold will change from non-performer hold to transaction level hold.
Transaction level hold is similar to the normal 21 days hold i.e. after the status of the payment hold has changed from Ebay non-performer hold to Transaction Level hold, you just need to wait for 21 days for your money to be released.
Summarily, Ebay non performer hold is just a red flag used by Paypal and ebay to inform sellers to be cautious when dealing with a particular buyer.
