President Biya Cancels public celebrations of the 2020 editions of Labour Day and National Day in Cameroon (READ COMMUNIQUE)
On Wednesday, 22nd of April, 2020, The Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic; Ferdinand NGQH NGOH released a communique to inform the public that due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the need to respect the social distancing measures prescribed by the Government of the Republic , THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, HIS EXCELLENCY PAUL BIYA, has decided to cancel the public celebrations of the 2020 editions of Labour Day and National Day.
Many Cameroonians have commended the decision taken by the president…stating that the head of state has once again express his strong determination to flush out the deadly Coronavirus from Cameroon as soon as possible so that life can return back to normalcy.
As a reminder, Cameroon’s Prime Minister & Head of Government; Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute (on April 16th) announce that schools might reopen on the 1st of June, 2020 in all educational establishments across the country after they were closed amidst an outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last March 18.
The announcement was made by Dr Joseph Dion Ngute at the end of an interministerial meeting on the evaluation of the implementation of Government’s anti-COVID-19 measures.
Many Cameroonians are of the opinion that the school resumption date set by the PM, is an indirect deadline set by the government to flush out the deadly Coronavirus from Cameroon.
