How to Buy on Amazon from Cameroon using DHL eSHOP App

1) Create an account on the DHL eShop Website.

Before you can start shopping on Amazon from Cameroon using the DHL Africa eSHOP App, the first thing you need to do, is to create an account on the DHL eShop website.

Visit the DHL Africa eShop website to sign up (create an account). Sign up is free.

After arriving at the DHL Africa eShop Website, you will be asked to choose your country from a list of African countries. WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR ITEMS SHIPPED TO??? 

Select Cameroon from the list of 34 DHL eShop supported African Countries and you will be taken to the Cameroon section of the DHL eShop website where you can create a DHL Africa eShop account.

Take note !, when creating your DHL eShop account, make sure that you use the exact name found on your payment card i.e. use the name found on your Visa card or Master card (prepaid or credit card).

If the billing name on your DHL eShop account doesn’t match the name on your card, your card may not be accepted on the DHL eShop platform. This is a security procedure put in place by DHL, in order to stamp out fraud on their platform (credit card theft).

It should be noted that, the order of the name on our credit card is often different from the order found on our national identity cards. If you still haven’t understood what i,m talking about, send me a message on Whatsapp using the phone number found at the end of this post and will further break it down for you.

When creating an account on the DHL Africa eShop website, you will also be required to enter a secret word.Please make sure that you enter a secret word you can easily remember but which is hard to guess. Do not use any of your name, nickname or other words your friends can easily guess.

Your “secret word” provides extra security for your DHL eShop Account, to prevent  a hacker from easily hacking in to your DHL eShop account and make purchases on Amazon without your consent.

Ok after you have successfully created your DHL eShop account, you will arrive at your DHL account dashboard. This doesn’t mean your account is ready for shopping on Amazon. There’s one last thing you need to do.

To get your DHL eShop account complete ready for Amazon shopping, you will need to enter your Cameroon address on your DHL Africa eShop account.

After you have logged in to the DHL Africa eShop website, you will see a link which says Add Address as seen in the screenshot below.

Click on that link and enter your real name and Address in Cameroon. This information will be used by DHL to deliver your purchased item to your doorstep.

The name associated with your shipping address, should be the exact name found on your Cameroon national identity card and in the right order…because you will be required to identify yourself before you can collect your purchased item(s) from the DHL courier agents.

3) Download & Install DHL eShop App

After you have successfully created an account on the DHL eShop website, the next thing you need to do, is to download and install the DHL eShop App on your Smartphone.

Android Smartphone users, can easily download and install the DHL Africa eShop App from the Google Play Store.

Iphone and Ipad users (whose mobile devices are equipped with iOS &iPadOS) can download and install the  DHL Africa eShop App from the Apple store.

For security reasons, please do not download the DHL Africa eShop App outside of the Google Play Store and Apple Store.

You can find download links on the DHL Africa eShop website. The download links on the DHL eShop website will take you to the precise page on the Google and Apple store where you can install the DHL Africa Eshop App on your mobile phone.

The total file size of the DHL Africa eShop App is just 12MB.

Before you can start buying on Amazon from Cameroon using the DHL Africa eShop App,  read the list of prohibited items.

For safety and regulatory reasons, DHL do not ship the following items to Cameroon:

1. Hazardous materials
2. Chemicals
3. Medication
4. Fire Arms
5. Alcohol
6. Any item or object with hazardous material in it.
7. Weapons and weapon equipment
8. Live Products including food and plants
9. Food products
10. Wooden furniture
11. Powders
12. Furniture

DHL do not also ship oversize items and heavy items. With DHL eSHOP, DHL focus on smaller packages that are no more than 30x30x30cm and weigh no more than 1KG per item.

If you order an item whose dimension and weight is larger than specified dimension, it might not be shipped and a refund will be issued.

4) Start Shopping on Amazon from Cameroon using the DHL Africa eShop App.

After you have successfully installed the DHL eShop App on your mobile device, swipe through the 4 step tutorial and click on the Start Shopping button found in step 4 (…to launch the DHL eShop App).

After you have successfully launched the App, click on all stores link and select Amazon USA (or UK Amazon, if wish to buy from Amazon.co.uk).

It should be noted that the DHL eShop App, makes it possible for Cameroonians to buy on 200 US and UK online shops from Cameroon (not just on Amazon US alone).

In this article, we are focusing on how to buy on Amazon from Cameroon using the DHL eShop App…but you can also use this same DHL eShop App to buy on Bestbuy.com, Walmatt.com, amazon.co.uk and other US or UK online shops and have your purchased item(s) shipped to your doorstep in Cameroon.

Ok let’s get back to business!

After you have clicked (selected) Amazon USA (on the list of 200 US & UK online stores), you will be taken to the US Amazon website (amazon.com).

After arriving on the US Amazon website (amazon.com), search for the product you wish to buy using the Amazon search bar.  After you have found the product, add it to your cart.

Take note!

When adding products to your cart, bare in mind that DHL has put in place a maximum weight and size restrictions like i mentioned earlier.

The maximum weight for an individual item is 4kg, and the maximum dimensions are 30x30x30 centimeters. If the item you wish to  buy on Amazon from Cameroon, is heavier than 4kg you will be required to pay an additional fee. Which you can accept or decline.

Take note!


When shopping on the Amazon USA website using the DHL Africa eShop App, you will notice that a yellow sticky button labelled REVIEW CART/CHECKOUT is always present at the bottom of every page of the Amazon USA website as seen in the screenshot below.

You can click on the button to view/check the number of items that you have added to your cart OR to make payment for the item(s) that you have added to your cart as seen in the screenshot below.

Ok let’s get back to business!

After you have searched and found the item you wish to buy, add the item to your cart.

To add an item to your cart, click on the products name (link) and then click on the ADD TO CART button found in the product page.

After adding one item to your cart,you can search for another item and add it to your cart.

Let’s take for example that apart from the laptop, i also wish to buy a mouse for my laptop on Amazon from Cameroon.

From the screenshot below, you can see that i have searched for “mouse for laptop” (after adding the laptop to my cart).

You can keep searching and adding items to your cart till you have added all your desired items to your cart.

TAKE NOTE..

When buying on Amazon from Cameroon using the DHL eShop App, always ignore the message which says…THIS ITEM DOES NOT SHIP TO CAMEROON. 

Even if Amazon says an item does not ship to Cameroon, still click on the ADD TO CARTbutton to add the item to your cart…because you are not buying directly from Amazon but via DHL.


Since you are shopping on Amazon via the DHL eShop App, DHL takes the responsibility of shipping items from Amazon to Cameroon.

Ok after you have added all your desired Amazon items to your cart and clicked on the yellow REVIEW CART/CHECKOUT BUTTON, you will be able to see the total number of items you have added to your cart OR proceed to to make payments for the items(s).

Click on CONTINUE SHOPPING if you want to add more items to your shopping basket or click on the CHECKOUT button if you wish to proceed to make payments for the items you have added to your cart.

On this section, you can also delete an item from your cart. If you want to delete an item from your cart, simply touch and hold on the product’s name to delete the item.

The CONTINUE SHOPPING BUTTON, will take you back to the Amazon USA website; where you can continue searching for more items to add to your cart.


The CHECKOUT button will take you to the next phase of the transaction.

In the next phase (SHIPPING METHOD), you will be asked to select your shipping address and choose between the two Amazon shipping instructions.

In step 1, i told you to add your Cameroon address to your DHL eShop account.

I also mentioned that DHL will use the shipping address to ship your purchased item(s) to your doorstep.

If you did what i told you to do, select the shipping address you added, from the drop down link…

…but if you still haven’t added an address to your DHL Africa eShop account, click on the drop down link and add a new address.

After you have added your address, choose between the two Amazon shipping instructions,.

The questions are very easy to understand.

Option 1 — Tick the first checkbox if you want DHL to process your order even if an Amazon seller will take more than 15 business days to ship.

This option is for people who are not concerned about time frame.

If you are too concern about time frame or you will like to receive your item earlier, do not select this option.

Option 2— Choose the second option if you will like to receive your package within 15 business days. If you choose this option and DHL can’t deliver your item within 15 business days, they will refund your money i.e. your money will be sent back to the credit card or Paypal account which you use to issue payment.

This option is for people who are not concerned about time frame. DHL will only process items in your order that will take 15 business days to arrive and refund money paid for delayed items.

Many Cameroon online shoppers often choose option 1 because DHL usually ships items to Cameroon within 5 to 10 business days.

However, it depends on the item and the store it was purchased from, but it typically will take 5 to 14 business days. The US & UK online stores send items to the MallforAfrica warehouse in the US and UK first. Once the warehouse receives the items they are then verified for accuracy, quantity, style, color, sku etc. If it passes the QA process the item is shipped via DHL Express directly to your doorstep in Cameroon.

Ok after you have selected your Cameroon address and choose between the two options, CLICK on the yellow REVIEW PURCHASE button below to proceed to the next phase where you will see the total amount of money you need to pay to DHL so that DHL can purchase your desired items on Amazon and have them shipped to your doorstep in Cameroon.

Total amount you will be expected to pay includes;


Product(s) total: This is the total value of the items you have added to your cart.


Duties & Taxes: These are fees levied by Cameroon government on every goods imported in to the country.


Handling Fee: This a fee charged by DHL for offering packaging service for your item(s).


Shipping/Customs: This is the cost of delivery. Shipping fees vary based on an algorithm on size, weight, and volumetric dimensions.

OK after you have reviewed your purchase and seen the total amount you are expected to pay, you can either click on EDIT CART if you wish to remove some items from your cart or add more items to your cart OR you can click on MAKE PAYMENT.

Make sure you have properly reviewed (checked) your purchase before issuing payment.


It should be noted that once an order has been made, no changes or cancellations are allowed as DHL & Mall for Africa often ship items out to you as fast as possible. This means they are unable to stop, modify or cancel purchased items.

Cameroonians can issue payment via three payment options which includes;

• Credit Cards
• Paypal

We also learnt that Mobile money very soon Mobile Money will be added to list of payment options.

Ok once you have paid required amount to DHL, you just need to wait for about 15 days maximum for your items to arrive at your doorstep in Cameroon.
