On Sunday, the 10th of February, 2019, a world renowned anglophone Cameroonian lawyer; Barrister N.J Ayuk; CEO of Centurion Law Group; (who was listed on Forbes magazine’s list of 10 most influential Africans in 2015 and also named as one of the world’s top energy lawyers in 2017 by Who’s Who Legal), took to his twitter page to reveal that the Cameroon security personnel have set ablaze his family home in Southern Cameroon.

This is what the influential Anglophone Cameroonian lawyer and senior colleague of Barrister Emmanuel Nsahlai said…

My family home got burned in #Cameroon . Setting houses ablaze does not bring a solution. I have been blessed and lucky. I am more worried about those who got it worse by this senseless violence. There must be a peaceful solution out of this mess. You can’t talk peace with guns.

They fired bullets at the house the burned the place. A culture of Impunity during military operations in civilian areas in Cameroon is radicalizing many young people. I hope Anglophones and Francophones can show each other the rewards of full humanity end the violence.

As a reminder, NJ Ayuk graduated from University of Maryland College Park and earned a JD from William Mitchell College of Law in the United States. He further holds an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.

His experience includes advising major companies on investment strategies, the establishment of joint ventures and cooperation structures, privatization, licensing and related tax, OHADA, Equatorial Guinea law, oil and gas, local content, litigation, negotiations, governance and other matters.

Most recently, Centurion Law Group worked to facilitate an exploration production sharing contract between Nigerian independent Oranto Petroleum and the government of South Sudan, in a deal that has Oranto investing $500 million in exploration of South Sudan’s emerging oil plays. Working throughout Africa, the corporate conglomerate is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has offices in Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Ghana and Mauritius.

It should be noted that NJ Ayuk has the highest number of social media followers among the lawyers in Cameroon and he is highly respected by his colleagues (peers) due to his achievements.
